Have Your Hair Cut to Your Facial Shape

A great haircut accentuates your face and brings out your best features, while downplaying weaker elements. Good balance, line and movement are key elements to the best hairstyles. It you've ever had your stylist cut your hair in a style that you saw in a magazine, only to get lackluster results, chances are the cut just wasn't right for your facial shape or hair type.

At Perfect Image Salon, I do things a little differently than most stylists. I'll start by evaluating your facial shape and hair texture. Then I'll talk with you about your lifestyle, how much time you want to spend on your hair each day and how you see yourself. I'll combine all these elements to recommend a hairstyle that makes the most of your BEST features.

FACIAL SHAPES

Facial shape is one of the most influential elements when deciding on a hairstyle that will complement your face, but you may be surprised to learn that you can have your hair any length you like, no matter what your facial shape. As an experienced stylist, I've spent years perfecting techniques that create the style you want, while complementing your individual facial shape.

Here are some general guidelines and tips for different facial shapes and how they can affect your choice of hairstyle.

Heart Shaped Face

Heart-Shaped Face

A heart shaped face is defined by a wide forehead and a narrow chin. My goal for heart-shaped faces is to add width to the jawline. I don't recommend side parts for those with heart-shaped faces. I may recommend adding volume to the hair as another great way to add width and style.

Square Shaped Face

Oblong Face

Similar to an oval face, an oblong face has an oval shape, but is longer than it is wide, leading to an elongated look. My goal for this facial shape is to add width to the face. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways such as shorter cuts or added curls or body that put more emphasis on the eyes and cheekbones.

Oval Shaped Face

Oval Face

An oval face is often described as the most ideal and versatile since it works well with virtually any hair style. The oval face is made up of 3 equal parts - forehead to eyebrows, eyes to lips and lips to chin, which gives the face a symmetrical look that is pleasing to the eye.

Round Shaped Face

Round Face

A round face is one that is the same length and height. For those with a round facial shape my goal will be to recommend hair styles that add length to the face. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways including adding gentle waves and wispy curls.
